Compact by Design is not a simple packaging-size badge. Sellers should review unit efficiency, product form, dosing, dimensions and weight before writing claims around a concentrated detergent.
The business situation
This article looks at a concentrated laundry detergent where the bottle became smaller and the team assumes the product qualifies. The practical problem is not whether the seller owns a file. The problem is whether that file describes the same product object that the customer sees on the page.
For consumable and household sellers reviewing concentrated formulas, refill packs and packaging changes, a green claim usually moves through several hands: supplier evidence, internal product data, marketplace listing copy, image text, packaging and customer-support language. If one hand changes the subject of the claim, the wording may become larger than the evidence.
Where the claim can go wrong
Treating a smaller bottle or lighter shipment as proof of Compact by Design eligibility. This is a common failure because the file looks relevant, the product name sounds close, and the team wants a shorter statement. Evidence checks before page wording
1. Confirm serving, dose, volume, dimensions, weight and customer-use unit before making a statement.

3. Do not imply CPF status until the product is recognized through the applicable route.
4. Keep old and new package versions separated so inherited claims do not follow the wrong SKU.

Product data, formula, packaging and marketplace teams should review the same unit-efficiency table before page updates. The review record should show what is confirmed now, what needs a qualifier, and what must wait for additional evidence.

Unit efficiency is the claim being assessed
Compact by Design is not a visual award for small packaging. The relevant question is how much product is delivered relative to the unit used in the programme calculation. A smaller bottle may contain less detergent, use a different concentration or change the dosage instruction. Its appearance cannot substitute for unit-efficiency data.
Keep the denominator visible
For a concentrated laundry product, record net quantity, number of loads or defined use units, dosage instruction and product version used in the submission. Compare those fields with the page title and image text. If the bottle or formulation changed, the previous calculation may no longer describe the current product.
Review one sales model end to end
Select the exact ASIN or sales model, preserve the current page and reconcile pack, formulation and calculation record. Then check whether “compact”, “concentrated” or “less packaging” is being used as a substitute for the actual programme claim. A clear page gives the supported efficiency fact without implying that every smaller package qualifies.
