Amazon Climate Pledge Friendly is often discussed as a list of sustainability certifications. For sellers, that view is too narrow.
Amazon’s public sustainability materials describe CPF as a program that works with trusted third-party certifications and Amazon-created features such as Compact by Design. Recent public wording has moved beyond the older “30 certifications” framing.
For a seller, the practical question is not “which certification is easiest.” The better question is: what sustainability feature can this specific SKU prove, and what documents support that feature?
Why a fixed certification list is not enough
Different certifications cover different objects. Some relate to the finished product, some to materials, some to manufacturing sites, some to product efficiency, and some to broader organizational practices.
- Does the evidence cover the exact SKU or only a supplier?
- Does the certificate holder match the supply chain documents?
- Are model number, material composition, production site, and label authorization aligned?
- Is the claim suitable for a product page, package, A+ content, or off-platform content?
- Is the certification still relevant to the target Amazon marketplace?
Six common evidence routes
Product and packaging efficiency: suitable for concentrated, lightweight, compact, refill, or reduced-packaging products. Compact by Design is commonly reviewed in this context.
Energy efficiency and electronics: relevant for appliances, lighting, electronics, office equipment, and similar products. ENERGY STAR, EPEAT, and TCO Certified may be relevant depending on the category.
Textiles and leather: relevant for apparel, home textiles, bags, pet textiles, and fabrics. GOTS, OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100, bluesign / bluepass, GRS, and RCS address different evidence needs.
Recycled content and circularity: relevant for recycled materials, recyclable design, pre-owned products, refurbished products, or circular design.
Forest and paper-based products: relevant for paper goods, paper packaging, wooden products, bamboo products, and furniture. FSC and PEFC evidence should be checked against certificate numbers, product groups, transaction documents, and label authorization.
Organic, personal care, and cleaning products: relevant for food, beauty, cleaning, baby-care, and household products. USDA Organic, EU Organic, COSMOS, Safer Choice, Green Seal, UL ECOLOGO, EWG VERIFIED, and MADE SAFE focus on different aspects of product evidence.
Build a working evidence matrix
Greenark recommends building a SKU-level working evidence matrix before selecting a certification path. The matrix should identify the product feature, evidence object, current documents, possible certification direction, wording boundary, and missing items.
This approach prevents a supplier certificate from being used as a finished-product claim, or an organizational statement from being used as SKU-level evidence.
绿色方舟(深圳)认证有限公司 can support CPF pathway assessment, certificate scope review, evidence organization, wording boundary review, and communication support. Final eligibility, display position, display timing, and ongoing status depend on Amazon and the relevant certification programs’ current rules.
