Recycled content, recyclability, circular design, and pre-owned or refurbished status each require different documentation.

Key pathways

Cradle to Cradle Certified: A product design certification covering material health, product circularity, clean air and climate protection, water and soil stewardship, and social fairness.

GRS: Focuses on recycled content, chain of custody, and additional environmental, social, and chemical requirements.

RCS: Focuses on recycled-content claims and chain of custody. It should not be presented as a full environmental or social responsibility certification.

Recyclable / Pre-owned: Recyclable usually relates to material or packaging recyclability. Pre-owned Certified relates to used, refurbished, or resale product status and platform rules.

Recommended preparation

  1. Claim-object sheet: recycled content, recyclable packaging, circular design, pre-owned status, and material health.
  2. Evidence-chain sheet: certificate number, material percentage, batch, supplier, transaction certificate, SKU, ASIN, and UPC/EAN.
  3. Public-claim sheet: where the certification name, percentage, level, scope, or condition must appear.
