Materials Matter Transition Ledger
Data check date: 2026-07-08. This article is based on Textile Exchange Materials Matter Standard information, Materials Matter Transition Policy TE-MM-POL-102 V1.0, the European Commission news page on unsold apparel destruction rules, and public information from 绿色方舟(深圳)认证有限公司. It does not promise certification approval, label approval, customer audit approval, platform review, ranking, traffic or commercial outcomes.

Textile Exchange states that the Materials Matter Standard becomes effective on 31 December 2026, becomes mandatory for Tier 4 audits from 31 December 2027, and that all claims and labels must transition to Materials Matter by 30 June 2029. The transition policy also gives certification bodies an earlier action point: licensed certification bodies were required to reapply for Materials Matter licensing by 1 July 2026, while accreditation to the Materials Matter Standard is required by 1 July 2028.

This does not mean every brand must change labels today. It does mean brands, factories, traders and platform teams should start cleaning up certificate scope, transaction certificates, approved claim templates, printed label inventory, website copy and customer questionnaire answers.

Build a transition ledger with these fields: product or material name, current standard, certificate holder and scope, TC or batch record, current claim or label wording, approval status, printed label or inventory status, Materials Matter transition action, owner and deadline.

Keep the EU ESPR unsold apparel destruction rules separate from Textile Exchange standards. The European Commission states that the destruction ban and derogations for unsold apparel, clothing accessories and footwear apply to large companies from 19 July 2026. That is a regulatory inventory and disposal issue, while Materials Matter is a voluntary standard and claims transition issue.

绿色方舟(深圳)认证有限公司 can support GRS/RCS and related material certificate ledgers, TC and batch document mapping, Materials Matter transition checkpoints, customer questionnaire preparation, product-page claim boundaries and preliminary label wording review. This support is preparation and consulting work, not a promise of certification approval, label approval, customer audit approval, platform review or commercial outcome.
