What Is Cradle to Cradle Certified? It Is Not a Generic Green Label

A multi-attribute product certification

Cradle to Cradle Certified is commonly discussed for products where material health, circularity and responsible production are part of the sustainability story. It is not a simple recycled-content label and it is not a generic eco-friendly badge. Sellers should read the certified product scope, level and applicable version before using it in public claims.

A product that contains one recycled or bio-based material is not automatically suitable for a Cradle to Cradle claim. The evidence needs to match the certified product or material route.

Example: building material or consumer product

For a panel, package or consumer good, the review should identify the certified product name, material formulation, supplier scope, certificate level, validity and product variants. If only one material layer is covered, the page should not imply that the whole finished product is certified.

Because the name itself can sound broad, the wording should explain the exact certified item and avoid turning the certification into a promise about overall environmental superiority.
