GOV.UK updated its closed loop packaging waste EPR guidance in July 2026. For cross-border packaging teams, the immediate task is not to make a broad recycling claim. It is to verify eligibility, CSV field codes, blank-field requirements and reprocessor evidence.
What to separate
Closed loop rows should be reviewed separately from ordinary packaging data. The file needs the correct packaging type, material and class codes, and the evidence needs to come from an accredited reprocessor or exporter where required.
Recommended evidence board
Keep packaging material, supplied-as-filled date, collection route, transport separation, reprocessor/exporter confirmation, recycling-percentage basis, validation process, submission file version and validation report together.
