CPF badges should be treated as evidence that needs maintenance
Some sellers used to treat a Climate Pledge Friendly badge as a one-time achievement. In practice, the badge depends on the continued validity of the supporting credential. When certificates expire, verification links fail, or the product information no longer matches the original credential scope, the badge may be reviewed or removed.
For sellers with existing green claims, the priority is not to wait until a badge disappears. The better approach is to maintain a live credential ledger and check whether each ASIN still has current, verifiable and product-matched evidence.
Four-week evidence review workflow
Week 1: export the ASIN and credential list. Record the certificate type, certificate number, issuing body, expiry date, product model, brand, and verification link for every CPF-related ASIN.
Week 2: mark renewal and review risks. Highlight certificates that expire within the next 60 days, documents with broken verification links, and products whose materials, packaging or supplier scope have changed.
Week 3: contact certification bodies and suppliers. For credentials such as GRS, RCS or OEKO-TEX, confirm renewal, annual review or scope update requirements early enough to avoid last-minute evidence gaps.
Week 4: prepare the platform update package. Upload renewed certificate files, update verification links, align product attributes, and monitor whether the CPF information displays normally after submission.
What to include in the internal credential ledger
A useful ledger should include ASIN, marketplace, product title, credential type, certificate holder, scope description, certificate number, issue date, expiry date, verification URL, responsible supplier, last review date, next review date, and current action owner.
The ledger should also preserve evidence boundaries. If the certificate covers only a material, factory, product family or transaction scope, the listing claim should not imply broader coverage than the evidence can support.
Customer action checklist
Before the next CPF review, confirm that each green badge is supported by current documentation, valid verification links, matching product scope, and a renewal plan. For expired or mismatched credentials, pause broad claims until the evidence is corrected.
