Many Amazon sellers hold an FSC or GRS certificate and submit a Climate Pledge Friendly (CPF) application, only to receive a rejection after 10+ business days. The problem is rarely whether the certificate itself is valid. It is almost always that three evidence lines — Certificate Scope, Transaction Certificate (TC), and ASIN mapping — are not aligned. If any one breaks, the entire evidence chain fails.

In 2026, Amazon tightened CPF review: semi-notice and no-notice audits are now standard, falsified materials or "one certificate for multiple unrelated ASINs" triggers immediate account suspension without appeal, and supply chain traceability must cover at least 3 supplier tiers. Pre-application self-check is no longer optional.

Why Three Lines Must Align Simultaneously

CPF is not a single-certificate review. It is an evidence chain verification. Amazon needs to confirm that each ASIN on your listing corresponds to a valid sustainability certification, and that the certificate actually covers the product's material, model, and production process. The chain has three links:

Evidence Line Core Document Question to Answer
Certificate ScopeCertificate Scope page/appendixDoes the certificate's product type, material, and range include the ASIN you are applying for?
TC (Transaction Certificate)One TC per batchDid certified material actually go into this batch? Is every supply chain step covered by a TC?
ASIN MappingCPF application CSV templateCan each ASIN trace back to one certificate + at least one TC?

All three are required. A common scenario: a seller holds a GRS certificate with Scope stating "recycled polyester fabric," but the ASIN being applied for is a "recycled polyester shopping bag." The material matches, but the product form is outside the Scope description — the application is returned.

CPF review logic is not "do you have a certificate" but "can your certificate prove this ASIN's product meets the sustainability claim." The certificate is the starting point, TC is the process, ASIN mapping is the endpoint. All three must be consistent in material, model, and batch.

Scope Self-Check: Five Fields

Field Common Pitfall Self-Check Method
Product CategoryCertificate says "textiles" but you sell "textile packaging" — category overlap but not exact matchCheck the certification standard's applicable category definition
Material DescriptionCertificate says "recycled polyester ≥20%" but actual product contains 15%Compare TC material ratio against Scope threshold
Standard VersionGRS 4.0 certificate still in use, but Textile Exchange has released GRS 5.0Verify certificate's standard version is current
Certificate HolderFactory holds certificate, trading company applies for CPF — name mismatchConfirm holder relationship with Brand Registry entity
Validity PeriodCertificate expires within 3 months; review cycle may exceed validityEnsure at least 6 months validity at submission

TC Self-Check: Three Key Points

1. Chain Completeness

A typical TC chain: recycled PET flake supplier → yarn mill → fabric mill → finished goods factory → brand owner. Each transaction needs its own TC. If any link is missing, Amazon considers the material source untraceable.

2. Product Information Alignment

TC lists product name, model, material ratio, weight, and batch number. These must match the ASIN listing. A mismatch between "recycled polyester fabric" on the TC and "eco shopping bag" on the listing can cause rejection.

3. Material Ratio Consistency

If GRS Scope requires "recycled material ≥20%," the TC ratio cannot be below 20%. A batch with 18% recycled material does not meet GRS requirements and cannot be used for CPF application.

ASIN Mapping Self-Check: CSV Template

CPF application path: Seller Central → Help → Contact Us → Selling on Amazon → Products and Inventory → Climate Pledge Friendly. CSV template guidelines:

  • One ASIN per row — do not merge multiple ASINs into one row
  • Subject field must use the full certification name (e.g., "Global Recycled Standard," not "GRS")
  • Multiple certifications require separate submissions — do not stack in one Subject field
  • Certificate number, holder name, and validity must match the certificate exactly
  • Submit by Scope group to avoid batch rejection from "one certificate, multiple ASINs"

2026 New Requirements Checklist

Check Item 2026 Requirement
Mandatory CategoriesMaternity/skincare, electronics accessories, textile bedding must complete certification by June 30, 2026
Audit ModeSemi-notice/no-notice spot checks; falsified materials trigger immediate account suspension
Supply Chain TraceabilityAt least 3 supplier tiers; recycled materials require GRS certification + TC
Carbon DataScope 1+2 emissions summary required; high-value categories need ISO 14067 carbon footprint report
ISCC PLUSFinished product sustainable material ratio ≥50%
Account QualificationProfessional seller + Brand Registry + ODR <1% + late shipment rate <4%

Free Pathway: Compact by Design

If you do not yet have a third-party certification, Amazon's own Compact by Design pathway requires no certificate. You only need to demonstrate that your product's "unit efficiency" (unit volume × unit weight) is below Amazon's category threshold. Review takes 3-7 days. However, it covers packaging efficiency only, not material sustainability claims like "recycled," "organic," or "FSC."
