Report a Violation is not a generic “counterfeit” button
Amazon’s guidance describes Report a Violation as a route for copyright, patent and trademark reports. Account, catalog, logistics, product-quality and transaction issues may require a different route. Before submitting, identify the ASIN and store, select the right type of right, and map each factual item to that right.
Different rights require different evidence
| Right | What to check | Evidence examples |
|---|---|---|
| Trademark | Brand Registry status, selected Amazon store and the mark actually used | Registration details and store-specific screenshots |
| Copyright | The original work, the allegedly used content and the item-by-item comparison | Original files, listing images and packaging-art comparison |
| Patent | An active patent number, applicable jurisdiction and product features mapped to the claims | Patent documents, feature comparison and platform-required material |
Lock the ASIN, store and page version
Record the ASIN, Amazon store, full page address, discovery time, seller and brand fields, and the page version. For each rights document, retain the owner, number, jurisdiction and current status. Do not combine screenshots from multiple ASINs or stores into one undifferentiated package.
What a test buy can and cannot show
Amazon’s official discussion recommends considering a test buy when it is necessary to confirm that a product or package actually uses the relevant work or trademark, and suggests providing the order ID in the additional information. A test buy connects one listing to one transaction and one received item. It does not, by itself, prove that the item represents all inventory, establish copyright or patent infringement, replace rights documents, or guarantee a platform action.
Build a five-layer case record
Object: ASIN, store, seller, page date and product version.
Right: owner, registration or patent number, jurisdiction and status.
Facts: page captures, product photographs, order records, packaging and original files, each with a date.
Submission: selected right, ASIN, explanation, submission time and case number. Point back to evidence instead of relying on a conclusion.
Follow-up: requests for more material, page changes and case status. Platform handling is a separate fact.
When to pause before using this route
Pause if the rights owner and current brand entity are not connected, the trademark is outside the relevant Brand Registry scope, the patent features cannot be mapped claim by claim, or the actual issue is catalog, account, quality or fulfillment related.
Greenark service boundary
绿色方舟(深圳)认证有限公司 can help organize SKU, listing, label, packaging, rights and supplier records into a traceable evidence map, and identify missing files or unsupported conclusions. This does not replace legal advice and does not promise Amazon acceptance or a particular action.
